of Montreal is a band hailing from Athens, Georgia. It is the main recording project of Elephant 6 member Kevin Barnes. Beginning as another Elephant 6 Beatles-inspired twee group, they have evolved over the years into a neo-psychedelia band with elements of funk and glam rock.
The group has gone through many band members, but the three consistent members of the group are Kevin Barnes, lead guitarist Bryan Poole and keyboard player Dottie Alexander. Some other artists that have been in the band include Kishi Bashi and Zac Colwell of Jupiter One, Julian Koster, James Husband and Derek Almstead.
Kevin Barnes is also one of the known members of the mysterious Elephant 6 supergroup Major Organ and the Adding Machine, along with Jeff Mangum, Julian Koster, and Robert Schneider.
