Person Pitch is the third solo record by Animal Collective member Panda Bear. It experimented with the use of loops and samplers to create trancy, hypnotizing pop music. It was a large departure from the ambient folk of his previous album, Young Prayer. It was critically acclaimed, with Pitchfork naming it album of the year for 2007, as well as the ninth greatest album of the decade. Panda Bear's solo work on this album would ultimately influence Animal Collective to begin experimenting with samplers and electronic instruments themselves, which began in 2007's Strawberry Jam and culminated in the 2009 record Merriweather Post Pavilion.
This album was extremely influential, and is claimed as an influence by artists such as Grizzly Bear, St. Vincent, Vampire Weekend and Yeasayer.
